What these tools are for
Data tools help when structured data is hard to read or won’t load. An API response arrives on one long line, a config file refuses to parse, or two exports need to be compared. The JSON formatter lays JSON out with one value per line, checks it as you type and points at the line and column of the first mistake. It can also minify JSON for a smaller file or sort the keys so two versions line up.
How they work
Everything runs in your browser, on your device. Data you paste, which can include customer records or internal settings, isn’t uploaded or stored, and there’s no account or sign-up. Paste, read the result, then copy it or download a file.
Tips
- Strict JSON has no comments and no comma after the last item. If a file from a code editor won’t load, check for those first.
- Sorting keys changes only their order, never a value, so it’s a safe way to make two files easier to compare.
- Numbers keep every digit as written. If a long ID changes in another program, that program read it as a rounded number.
