What these tools are for
Unit converters turn a measurement in one unit into another, for a recipe, a label, a school exercise or a spec sheet. The unit converter covers 10 quantities with 94 units in all: length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, data size, time, pressure and energy. It works from each unit’s definition, shows the answer to 10 significant digits with the formula it used, and lists your value in every unit of the quantity.
How they work
Everything is worked out by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there’s no account or sign-up. Open a converter and it starts with an example already worked out; change the value or the units and the answer follows.
Tips
- US and imperial units are listed separately. A US gallon is 3.785411784 L and an imperial gallon 4.54609 L.
- kB, MB, GB, TB and PB step by 1,000; KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB and PiB by 1,024.
- Temperatures convert by formula, not by one factor. So 100 °C is 212 °F.
- Copy value copies the answer alone, and Copy table copies your value in every unit.
