What these tools are for
HR tools take care of the arithmetic around working time. The time card calculator adds up a week of start, end and break times into hours and minutes and decimal hours, and works out the pay from an hourly rate. It reads a shift past midnight as ending the next day, leaves out a day with a missing time and says so, and can round each day to 5, 6 or 15 minutes.
How they work
Everything is worked out by your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there’s no account or sign-up. Open a tool and it starts from a worked example, with the answer already showing; change a time and the answer follows.
Tips
- Every tool shows how it got its answer, and Copy result puts the answer on your clipboard.
- Decimal hours are the figure most payroll forms ask for: 7 h 30 min is 7.50 h.
- The tools do the arithmetic only. Overtime rules, taxes and deductions differ between employers and countries, so they aren’t included.
