What it does

The comma separator takes a list and writes it with the separator you choose:

Each item is trimmed and blank items are dropped. The Items row above the result shows how many items there are.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your list into “Your text”. Select “Try a sample” to see an example.
  2. Choose what to join with: Comma, Comma and space, Semicolon, Pipe or New line.
  3. Choose Quotes if each item needs them: None, Single ’ or Double “.
  4. The result appears next to your text and updates as you type. Select Copy to put it on your clipboard.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a list for an SQL IN clause?

Paste your values one per line, choose Comma and space and Single ', then copy the result into IN ( … ). A value with an apostrophe, like O'Brien, gets it doubled to O''Brien, as SQL expects.

What do the quotes do?

Single ' or Double " wraps each item in that quote. A quote of the same kind inside an item is doubled, so the list stays readable by tools such as spreadsheets and databases.

Can I split a comma-separated line back into a column?

Yes. Paste the line and choose New line. When your text has only one line, it is split on commas, semicolons, pipes and tabs.

What happens to blank lines and extra spaces?

Spaces at the start and end of each item are removed, and blank items are dropped, so the Items count shows only real items.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Your text is processed on your device by your browser and is never sent to a server. Only the join and quotes you chose are remembered for your next visit.
